CPD Brochure 2023-2024

Our Social Work Practice and Development CPD Framework has been developed jointly by SYTP, and is designed to support social work professionals to continue to develop their knowledge and skills as professionally capable, reflective and analytical practitioners.

The Framework is for social workers and managers working across children and families and adults’ services, and is mapped to the Knowledge and Skills Statements.

Our accredited CPD modules and courses are delivered by the University of Sheffield. All SYTP staff who undertake accredited modules and/or courses will be required to complete a Learning Contract to confirm their commitment, and their managers commitment and support, to undertaking the CPD activity.

How do I apply for a place on a module/course?

Please discuss the CPD opportunity you are interested in with your line manager during supervision/appraisal. If your manager agrees to nominate you for a module/course, and you are available to attend all dates for that module, they will need to contact your authority’s Workforce Development contact  to put your name forward for the module.

CPD at the University of Sheffield

The University of Sheffield offers a range of modules which support continuous professional development across four strands:

  • Leadership and management;
  • Practice;
  • Practice educator;
  • Research and evidence-informed practice.

All modules are accredited at level 7, and social workers can build up credits towards a range of postgraduate qualifications including a certificate, diploma or MA in Advanced Professional Practice (please note that the PG Cert in Leadership and Management is a stand-alone course and the credits therefore cannot be used towards a diploma or MA in Advanced Professional Practice)
